Tad Lo
Tad Lo is situated on the northern edge of the Bolaven Plateau, is in Salavan Province. Although many of the inhabitants around Tad Lo are Lao, they are not native to the region and the area is known for the Mon-Khmer groups (Ta-oy, Lavai, Katang, Alak, Laven, Ngai, Tong, Pako, Kanay, Katu and Kado) Quite different from the ethnic groups of northern Laos. The Ho Chi Minh trail cut through Salavan and still today they are clearing bombs from this region.
The town itself is a one street affair with most guesthouses on the approach to the bridge. The fits falls Tad Hang can be seen from the bridge and are cascades you can swim in with the local kids. Cross the bridge and walk through the guesthouse keeping to the path by the river to go 700m upstream to Tad Lo. There is third cascade Tad Suong about 10km from the river.
